Matthew Matt James, born on December 5, 1991, in North Carolina. The son of Manny James as well as Patty James of mixed race. He has an Nigerian mother, and an American caucasian father. In 2010 he graduated from Sanderson High School and furthered into Wake Forest University where he completed a bachelor's in economics in 2015. James gained fame when his appearance on The Bachelorette as a reality TV star. James was selected to be the next bachelor in The Bachelor season 25, being the show's first African American male star. The season premiered later that year. James's appearance, size and attitude were the perfect match for the part. Rachael Krakconnell, who was his girlfriend through the remainder of the season. In season 30 (in 2021) of Dancing with the Stars, James competed alongside dancer Arnold. James and Arnold placed 12th.
